DPS Panipat Refinery, sprawled over 8 acres of land, was started as an English medium school in the year 1998 as a joint venture of the DPS Society and IOC, Panipat Refinery to cater to the academic needs of the wards of Panipat Refinery employees. It is situated on the serene and sylvan campus of Panipat Refinery Township. It started with a humble strength of 400 students and 25 teachers in 1998 and today nearly 2200 students from class Nursery to class XII are being happily nurtured under the able guidance of 90 plus teachers. The school is affiliated to CBSE (Affiliation no. - 530296) and is running up to class XII with three streams; science, commerce and arts. It has all the required infrastructure to take care of the needs of all the students.
In about twenty five years of its establishment, the school has carved a niche for itself in the state of Haryana not only in the field of academics, but also in the field of co-curricular activities and competitions. The school is pro active in providing maximum opportunities to the teachers and the students to participate in workshops and seminars conducted by the DPS Society, CBSE and other agencies to keep them updated. The mission statement of the school is to provide its student a caring and creative environment to experiment, learn and grow, where they also learn to respect one another. It aims to use innovative techniques, varied instructional strategies and interdisciplinary teaching to enhance life long learning. It aims to invest in good modern resources and is increasingly looking to IT to aid the learning process. It strives to have the parents, teachers and community members involved in students’ learning. It is committed to create an environment that encourages students to acquire knowledge and skills and become interdependent and socially responsible adults.
The highly professional team of administrators and teachers make a constant endeavor to keep developing the various dimensions of the school for the benefits of the students. It has adopted a broad based curriculum taking care of the needs of every student and it functions on the philosophy which says "Every child can learn if taught."
People are now becoming global citizens. It is very important that our students get the kind of education and exposure that enables them to make their presence felt in this global village. DPS Panipat Refinery tied with British Council in the year 2009 to achieve this goal. The collaboration has proved to be magnificent and very fruitful. For its active contribution, the British Council bestowed International School Award on the school for the period of 2010-2013, 2014-17 and reconferred the same for the period of 2018-21.
The school was honoured with the “District Level Swachh Vidyalaya Award 2017” by MHRD, Govt. of India.
DPS Panipat Refinery was declared Panipat’s No. 1 Co-ed Day School in the Education World India School Ranking- 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023 for six years. It was also conferred upon "School Excellence Award - 2017" by Brainfeed (a reputed educational magazine) in two categories - one for being among top 500 schools of India and other for being among the Best schools of Haryana. The school was again conferred “School Excellence Award -2022” for being in top 500 schools of India by Brainfeed.
